REAL MUMS #6 – Up Close With Aditi

Hola…

I know I have neglected this space for some time now…. But I am back here today with another “real mum” who is here to share her journey on pregnancy & parenting with us all….

And the yummy mummy this time is – Aditi, of Budget Belleza fame! ๐Ÿ™‚

How did you find out about your pregnancy and how did your partner react to it?

Well it was a planned one so did not come as a surprise. I got a little breathless in my first pregnancy too, so the similar symptom strengthened the fact that I’m preggers again. Since we were whole-heartedly looking forward to take our family a step further , DH was really happy when I told him over the office…Back from office I was showered with a lovely cake and flowers ๐Ÿ™‚

What foods did you crave during your pregnancy?

I was mad after sweet stuff when I was carrying my boy. My day usually began with a dark chocolate pastry or a black forest. Gorged on customized desserts (I used to cut bananas into butter scotch ice cream and add a handful of cashews to it..yeah still struggling with weight issue ๐Ÿ˜‰

..but this time I like savoury ๐Ÿ™‚

What has been the best experience in your pregnancy?

Well I guess every woman on the planet would admit , its the TLC that she gets – the best part of pregnancy…followed by the feeling ofย  your baby’s twist, wriggle, punch and kick is definitely one of the biggest pregnancy thrills!!!

Any bad experience you recall from your pregnancy?

None from my first one..but this time around, the first trimester really saw me in the washroom all the time. Super nauseated, bloated and exhausted :/

What did you become extra careful about?

Not eating papaya and pineapple (refer old wives tale) and remember I love both. Secondly and more importantly..protecting my tummy from my 5year old..He’s used to bang on me all the time!

What aspects of your old life do/did you miss โ€“ being pregnant or being a parent?

My old jeans..and right now, even my sound sleep.

How do/did like your bump? You think you look sexier with one?

Awww…You gotta believe it, I’m loving my bump absolutely. Sexier? – ย I’m not sure, but I definitely look cuter this way ๐Ÿ™‚

What has been your favorite way to relax?

A pedicure definitely does the trick for me and a head massage would be the icing on the cake ๐Ÿ˜‰

How do you think pregnancy/parenting has changed you as an individual?

Substantially..I have always been a pretty carefree person, being time-bound and deadline based is something so very not me…But now, I have and follow a schedule for all little things around my son.

Also I always thought of myself as a strong person within but believe me being a Mom makes you go weak in your knees at the drop of a hat!!!

How do you think pregnancy/parenting has changed you as a couple?

We were always close enough so I can’t really say pregnancy or my son has brought us closer but we definitely have common dreams/goals/plans/nitty gritty about the future and family. This in turn makes the bond stronger!

Was your partner with you during labor?

No…I didn’t want him there. Mine was a C-sec, so I would have been knocked out anyway. The moral support thingy was actually not required ๐Ÿ˜‰

Do you discuss parenting with your partner?

All the time, amidst minor clashes ๐Ÿ˜‰

What is the most memorable thing your partner did for you when you were pregnant?

Well I can’t state a single thing..there were and are so many things that he does..little ones that matter so much..

Holding hands when I need to walk or climb stairs.

Taking care of the future investments considering the family is growing.

Planning vacations just to de-stress me, when I know he’s actually more stressed with work, family and studies.

Being a little extravagant these days on me.

Bearing with my mood swings.

All in All he’s my rock of Gibraltar..I couldn’t have asked for more!

(I’m not expecting a solitaire either;) )

What is your 2 cents to expecting mums/ new parents out there?

Phewww… Be realistic. Pregnancy and having a child means lots of nausea, fatigue, bloating, exhaustion, puking at home/ public places/at neighbors/friends/even strangers’ places. Followed by swollen feet and insomnia. But once you have your little bundle of joy in your hands, you’ll know how its all worth it. Your child completes you and when a little grown up..is a wholesome company to you.

It’s like your heart walking out of your body ๐Ÿ™‚

P.S. New moms don’t worry..its just not a child’s birth, a mom is born too ๐Ÿ™‚

What kind of support system you had during your tough times?

My husband helped me throughout my pregnancy to… when my son was born to… raising him up and he still is my biggest support for every big or small thing in my life..

My mom was also by my side during the last trimester to my son’s birth and later for two months..Love her โค
